Theodore Comnenus-Ducas, as emperor of Thessalonica, 1225/7-1230. Aspron Trachy (Silver, 32 mm, 3.54 g, 6 h), Thessalonica, circa 1225-1226. Virgin Mary, nimbate, seated facing on square-backed throne, holding medallion of infant Christ with both hands; in upper left and right fields, MP-ΘV; to left and right, on the back rest of the throne, stars. Rev. [ΘЄΟΔⲰ]POC [Δ૪KAC] Theodore, on the left, standing facing, wearing crown with pendilia and loros, holding sheathed sword in his right hand and akakia in his left; and Christ, on the right, standing facing, nimbate, blessing the emperor with his right hand and holding book of Gospels in his left; above, IC-XC.
